Julian Wells has practiced law as a commercial litigator since 1989. An attorney at Riker Danzig for almost 20 years, Julian has been a partner at Riker Danzig since 1998. He is also a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee.
As a commercial litigator representing Fortune 500 companies, closely held businesses and individuals, Julian has a knack for understanding his clients' business needs, as well as their legal ones. "It's not just about the intricacies of the law," says Julian. "It's about keeping the client's goals in mind," whether that means reaching a quick settlement, exploring arbitration or mediation opportunities, or taking the matter all the way to trial.
Julian brings his keen litigation skills to a range of commercial issues, including securities arbitration and litigation, fiduciary liability claims, employment-related matters, intellectual property matters and real estate disputes. His clients run the gamut from brokerage firms, financial institutions and insurance companies to real estate developers, retailers, manufacturers and service providers.
Julian is adept at both trial work and alternative dispute resolution, having resolved many multimillion matters through mediation and arbitration. "In almost all of my cases, I will explore at some point or another whether the issue can be resolved in the client's favor through ADR," he says.
The hallmarks of his practice are persistence and responsiveness. "I always pursue results for my clients from a position of strength," says Julian.
He appears frequently in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York, as well as in arbitrations throughout the country. Prior to joining Riker Danzig, Julian worked at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York and Perkins Coie in Seattle.
Benchmark Litigation named Julian a "Local Litigation star" in its Definitive Guide to America's Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys. Best Lawyers in America®, a peer review of U.S. lawyers has named Julian one of the state's top commercial litigation attorneys. In addition, Law & Politics magazine has named him a “Super Lawyer” for Business Litigation.
