Marilynn R. Greenberg

Partner

Marilynn R. Greenberg is a partner in the firm's Environmental and Energy Groups. Her practice encompasses all aspects of environmental law, including transactional matters, litigation, insurance, permitting, solid waste, indoor air quality (asbestos and mold), real estate development (brownfields and greenfields), defense of enforcement actions and expert testimony. Ms. Greenberg counsels clients regarding regulatory compliance with a variety of state and federal environmental statutes and regulations, with particular emphasis on the Site Remediation Reform Act and Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) Program, the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA), the Waterfront and Freshwater Wetlands Laws and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund). She also has unique expertise in handling matters involving both environmental and bankruptcy issues. Ms. Greenberg has handled environmental matters throughout the Northeastern Region.

Ms. Greenberg served for eight years as general counsel for environmental matters to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Other representative clients are the Rockefeller Group, Roseland Property Company, the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), Coach USA, Atlantic City Electric Company (f/k/a Conectiv), Lucent Technologies, Bed Bath and Beyond, Carrier Clinic, GAF Corporation, Reliance Electric Company, Newport Associates Development Company, Simon Property Group, FirstEnergy, Morris Energy Group, Supreme Energy Group and the Township of Howell.

Ms. Greenberg is the former chair of the Township of Livingston's Environmental Commission. She also served on the Livingston Zoning Board of Adjustment. She is a member of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce's Environmental Committee, the Technical Rules Advisory Coalition, the Society of Women Environmental Professionals and the NJDEP’s Site Remediation Advisory Group. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers, and in Law & Politics’ Super Lawyers every year since its inception, including as one of New Jersey’s Top 50 Women Lawyers. Ms. Greenberg has also been named one of the state's top environmental law attorneys by Best Lawyers in America®, a peer review of U.S. lawyers.

Ms. Greenberg is a frequent speaker and author, having spoken recently at several seminars regarding the Site Remediation Reform Act and the LSRP Program, and authored articles on various brownfields redevelopment topics, natural resource damages, CAFRA and mold.
