Sandra Brown Sherman values the long-standing and close relationships she has cultivated with her clients over the years. A partner in Riker Danzig's tax and trusts and estates practice, she feels that her focus on estate planning and administration for her clients and their families has allowed her to build and strengthen those relationships and to carry them through into the next generation.
Her practice is devoted to helping families with their estate planning, charitable planning, and family-held businesses. "Because my practice usually does not have the distraction of an adversary," she says, "I can concentrate principally on attending to the needs and objectives of my clients."
Ongoing client relationships do not just happen, of course. Clients continue to seek Sandie's counsel because she knows the importance of patience in crafting thoughtful estate plans. "You need to listen to clients and then take them in a direction where they're comfortable," she says. "You want them to feel secure about what they've done."
Sandie's interest in improving people's lives extends to her outside activities as well. She is a trustee of the Foundation of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and of the Jewish Community Foundation of Metrowest. She is an advisory board member of the Community Foundation of New Jersey and a regional board member of the American Heart Association (Northern New Jersey affiliate). In 2006, Sandie was named Trustee at Large for the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.
Worth magazine has selected Sandie to its "Top 100 attorneys" for 2007 and 2008 in the United States." She also has been named among the top tax and trusts & estates lawyers in New Jersey by Best Lawyers in America ®, a peer review of US Lawyers. Law & Politics magazine named her one of New Jersey's "Super Lawyers."
Sandie is also a frequent lecturer and writer, having authored articles for a variety of national estate planning journals, including Trusts & Estates, Estate Planning and Probate & Property.
