Scott L. Newman is counsel in Riker Danzig’s Estate Planning and Administration Group, resident in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Newman’s practice encompasses a wide range of estate planning, wealth preservation and trust and estate administration services. As part of his broad practice, Mr. Newman:
Mr. Newman understands that every client has unique assets, family and goals that must be considered within the framework of the ever-changing wealth transfer tax laws. In that regard, Mr. Newman works closely with his clients’ advisors, including accountants, investment managers and insurance agents, to ensure an optimal estate plan. In addition, for many clients, Mr. Newman has become a trusted advisor, serving as the primary contact for all of a client's legal needs. It is in this role that Mr. Newman's experience and creativity allows him to offer practical and efficient solutions.
Mr. Newman received his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in 1993 and his J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School in 1996. In addition, Mr. Newman holds an LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law. Mr. Newman is a member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City and has authored articles for the New York Law Journal and Newsday. Mr. Newman is an active member of his community, including his serving on the Long Island Community Foundation’s Professional Advisory Committee.
Mr. Newman is admitted to practice in New York and Florida and before the United States Tax Court. Prior to joining Riker Danzig, Mr. Newman was a senior trusts and estates attorney in the New York office of a large international law firm.
