Managing Partner Glenn Clark was quoted in Commerce Magazine’s “Annual Law Firm Managing Partners Roundtable” concerning the recent favorable arbitration award for Riker Danzig client York Claims Service, Inc. against Colonial Cooperative Insurance Company (CCIC).
The case centered on the responsibility for paying certain law firms that represented CCIC insureds. York contended that CCIC had selected the firms, and thus was required to pay them pursuant to the agreement between York and CCIC, by co-opting a York employee to engage the firms and undertake a lengthy series of fraudulent acts against York. The arbitrator ruled in York’s favor, awarded damages to York on its counterclaim and denied all CCIC claims. As a result of the arbitrator's ruling, the law firms' lawsuits against York were resolved in York's favor.
