Scott L. CarlsonAssociateScott Carlson is an associate in Riker Danzig’s governmental affairs and public utilities groups. His practice focuses on land use law, land use litigation, administrative law and regulatory compliance. Scott has considerable experience preparing and presenting site plan and variance applications and has litigated on behalf of and against governmental entities. He also has represented clients seeking permits and approvals from a wide-array of public agencies. Scott also assists Riker Danzig’s public utilities clients with securing rate modifications, tariff changes, and transfers of control. In addition to his administrative and regulatory practice, Scott works with Riker Danzig’s white collar criminal defense group in achieving favorable sentences both within the context of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and, when necessary, by means of departure from the Guidelines. Prior to joining Riker Danzig, Scott was an editor of the Rutgers Law Review. From 1998-2005, he served as Chief of Staff for State Senator John A. Girgenti. He is also a former commissioner of the Passaic County Utilities Authority. Law & Politics Magazine named Scott a New Jersey Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2009 and 2010. Related Article
